Barrow to welcome new kennels

Roanhead Kennels, based in Hawthwaite Lane in Barrow, Cumbria, is set to open on 16 July.

The kennels are owned by Kieran and Kate Mason, newcomers to the sector, who have already made 30 bookings.

Kieran, an engineer at BAE Systems, told The Mail: “We were selling our house and saw a house that came with everything needed for kennels and thought it was perfect. It took nine months to build it all and it’s ready to go now.”

He added: “It’s a dream for us to do it as our full-time jobs. We’ve always wanted to do it. We’re big dog lovers – we’ve had dogs all of our lives. We can’t wait to open up. Lots of people have come in and had a look.”

One dog owner said: “I went up to these kennels the other day. They were amazing air-conditioning, heating, fans all inside with large inside kennels and massive outside area for the dogs to run. My puppy can’t wait to go next week.”
