Thanet dog walkers warned about oil deposits

Dog walkers using beaches in Thanet, Kent, are being advised to keep their pets on a lead after oil deposits washed up.

The beaches affected are Dumpton Gap, Louisa Bay, Viking Bay, Stone Bay, Joss Bay, Kingsgate Bay, Botany Bay, and Walpole Bay.

Thanet District Council said the affected beaches are being cleared and warning signs put in place to advise beach users to take extra care in these locations.

The council is continuing to monitor the beaches and is working with the relevant partners, including the Environment Agency, it said.
