Dog whistle increases the range of canine control by 17%
ACME Whistles, which launched the first dog whistle back in 1935, has reinvented its original design to give dog trainers and owners better control and increased range.
The company worked closely with the UK’s leading dog trainers, including Ben Randall, to develop a whistle that is 8% louder with crisper sound that has resulted in a 17% increase in range when compared to ACME’s original dog whistle. Dogs have successfully responded to the new whistle at distances of over 485 metres.
The ALPHA has both the benefit of ACME’s 135 years’ of experience alongside applied modern engineering and manufacturing techniques to develop a crisper, clearer sound.
The new rubberised surface is tough enough to be durable but soft enough to provide a better grip, especially in wet and cold conditions.
The external rubberised sealant prevents air loss, while the redesigned internal angles grab extra air, and convert it into pure sound which is louder and carries further.
The team at ACME has spent four years, taking the product through approximately 47 iterations, to test their latest invention to its limit.
Ben McFarlane, Head of Marketing of ACME Whistles, said: “This whistle is the most efficient we have ever made. The frequency is now concentrated in the dog’s middle octave hearing range which means the dog hears it more clearly.
“The new design is so sensitive you only have to breath into it for a good sound and the whistle user can also now produce sounds so quiet they are almost inaudible to people – perfect for close working dogs.”
ACME has also created a range of ‘how to’ videos to teach users how to use the ALPHA for a range of basic commands showcasing how effective it can be.
The Canine Times has 20 ALPHA whistles to give away, to be in with a chance of winning, email editorial@thecaninetimes.co.uk by the end of 16 April.
