Luxury dog hotel of the stars investigated over complaints
A luxury dog hotel and spa in Westfield, London, is being investigated over three complaints by Hammersmith & Fulham Council.
The complaints follow a different investigation last year when a dog escaped the facility, which opened in 2020.
Dubbed the ‘Soho House for dogs’, the company boasts big celebrity names as customers, including former Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse, film director Guy Ritchie and even the Beckhams, according to newspapers.
However, the latest complaints, according to The Sun, centre on claims staff were asked to take dogs home at night, while another allegation mentioned a client was not told their dog had had a seizure.
Urban Mutts founder Barry Karacostas has denied any wrongdoing and told the newspaper that dogs were only taken home by employees as an “emergency measure”, and only with the owner’s permission. He also denied the seizures allegation.
Hammersmith & Fulham Council told The Canine Times: “We’ve received three complaints from an individual and are looking into the allegations.”
The Canine Times has asked Urban Mutts for comment, but has not had a response at the time of writing.
