Chester dog café plans yoga classes and doggy daycare

A new dog café has opened in Chester and is already planning to expand its services.

The Doghouse Café, based on Godstall Lane, has been opened by friends Becca Howell and Sam Walsh who met at the University of Chester. They hope the two-story café, which is going to offer doggy daycare from the New Year, will offer a welcoming place for some pet therapy, along with great coffee and cake.

The business partners are also planning to branch out by offering puppy yoga classes in future and have a puppy party already booked in the New Year.

Howell told Cheshire Live: “We picked up the keys on 1 November and opened this month. At the moment we are open as a dog-friendly café or rather a human-friendly dog café. Anyone is welcome even if you don’t have a dog.

“We’ve had a really good reception in our first few weeks of opening, which, for a new business, is really quite difficult. When we have got the qualifications to open doggy daycare we will then operate a booking system for people wanting to come into the café to spend time with the dogs here.

“We’ve based it around uni students who miss their own pets back home. They can come here and play with them.”

Walsh added: “We will have a doggy safe space here too, so if they want to have something to eat or a sleep and they don’t want to be around people constantly. That will be in the New Year.”

The Doghouse Café is open seven days a week.
