Leicestershire doggy daycare loses bid for new home

Leicestershire-based Pets in Home has had its plans for a new doggy daycare and dog walking facility in Hinckley refused after concerns it would lead to more traffic and pets “running wild”.

The company had hoped to relocate by building new premises on land off Dawsons Lane, in Barwell. The business is currently based at Cold Comfort Farm, in Hinckley, and provides services, including daycare, grooming, and home visits.

Council planning officers raised several concerns about the proposal, including that the business would have a negative impact on the open landscape and that traffic generated by the business would be too much for the single-track access road to deal with.

There was also an objection from a nearby charity that feared the new building would interfere with access to its allotments and that plants would be lost as result of the construction. Environmental health added that barking dogs could be a nuisance for neighbours.

Members of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s planning committee followed a recommendation by council officers to refuse the application.
