Berkshire councillor ‘confident’ under threat dog exercise area will be relocated
A local politician in Thatcham West in Berkshire, which is facing the loss of its dog exercise area, is “confident” another space for the facility will be found.
The facility’s future is in doubt after the land was identified as a potential site for a council plan to protect homes from flooding.
However, Thatcham town councillor Mark Lillycrop (Thatcham West) said he is keen to find another space for the dog exercise area.
He told Newbury Today: “I have always valued this space as well. I used to have a dog, we used to take him there to let him off his lead as he had real trouble with recall.”
He said he has been in contact with West Berkshire Council in finding another location and the matter will be open for discussion at a Thatcham Town Council meeting.
“The meeting agendas are always published in advance and we welcome members of the public to share their views,” he added.
