Dog walkers in Leicestershire have been warned after a man was reportedly seen adding an unknown substance to water bowls.

Leicestershire Police said it has received reports of a man administering the unidentified substance into communal bowls left out for passing pets to drink from in the Clarendon Park area.

The police force said there is no information to suggest any animals have come to harm as a result of the reported activity, but dog walkers are being told to remain vigilant and take simple precautions while the matter is looked into.
