Hastings Borough Council is proposing to extend its dog public space protection order (PSPO) for another three years. The council is proposing to require anyone in control of a dog to have a suitable receptacle or other means of removing dog mess, unless they have a reasonable excuse. Failing to produce a receptacle when requested by an authorised officer would be an offence. In addition, Troika Projects – which is running and redeveloping the Hastings Castle site – has asked to change the PSPO so dogs on leads can be allowed at Hastings Castle. A Troika spokesperson said: “By permitting well-behaved dogs on leads, the castle could attract a wider range of visitors, increase visitor numbers, and encourage longer stays.” An online consultation on the proposals closes on 24 July. The results will then be discussed by the council’s Cabinet in September. Post navigation Dog walking park set to open in Fareham Britain’s litter problem ‘directly impacting’ health of pets
