A dog sustained a series of injuries at a grooming parlour in Bargoed, South Wales. Owner Tegan Williams took her Toy Poodle and Bichon Frisé cross Honey for a trim at Bargoed-based Scruffy 2 Fluffy on 15 June. She claims that later that evening she noticed Honey’s “whole body shaking”, after which she inspected her. Williams told WalesOnline: “As I was stroking her, I noticed her fur was very solid. As I looked it felt like superglue and her nipple was a different colour. “Then as she was looking around I saw blood in her eye, and as I lifted her eyelid up her eye was all covered in blood; you could see no white part in her eye. There was also a small cut close to her tendon on her left back leg.” Williams said she took her pet to the out-of-hours vet, costing her £385, which Scruffy 2 Fluffy owner Paul Smith has agreed to pay for in full. He told WalesOnline that the groomer that saw Honey is self-employed. He said: “The issue was brought up to me the next day and I immediately acted… I found out who was working, I told the [groomer] that she is not welcome back here, and I paid for the vet straight away without question, because I don’t feel that they should have been in that position. “It was an accident, and it happened. That [groomer] didn’t go out of her way to do anything… She was too embarrassed to mention it.” Williams says she has reported the incident to the RSPCA and trading standards so it can be “properly” investigated.
